Halee Kirkwood is a gender-fluid, queer, and mixed individual of Anishinaabe descent with an acute interest in self-love as colonial resistance, as well as in reproductive freedom and queer/trans rights. After graduating with a degree in Creative Writing and Gender Studies from Northland College, a small environmentally-focused college on the shores of Lake Superior, Kirkwood worked at a small-town library and became pleasantly surprised by the popularity and sheer volume of the Amish Romance genre. Kirkwood also volunteered as an editor for Aqueous Magazine, a free Lake Superior region literary, visual, and performing arts magazine. Other odd jobs include having won last place in a corporate mascot race, as well as hosting a community radio show. They feel most beautiful when laughing, dancing with friends, or mowing the lawn, and make a fabulous, glam-tastic drag performer. They currently live in St. Paul, Minnesota, where they will soon be pursuing an MFA at Hamline University.
